Independent
Spent Fuel Storage Installation Environmental Monitoring - One Year Later
By Douglas Wahl, Exelon
Nuclear
The Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station ISFSI has been operational for one year. In 2000
four Transnuclear TN-68 casks each containing 68 spent fuel assemblies were placed on the
ISFSI pad. The current schedule plans for five additional casks to be placed each year on
the pad, until a total of 17 casks are on the pad. A supplemental radiological
environmental monitoring program using both passive environmental and personnel dosimetry
and real-time
mR meter measurements was implemented to demonstrate compliance to the
requirements of 10CFR72.104 and 40CFR190. Results of this program are presented.
