Gaseous Effluent Radiation Monitor Setpoints

Alarm/Trip setpoints shall provide a safe margin of assurance that instantaneous release limits specified in the facilities Technical Specifications or ODCM will not be exceeded. The instantaneous release limits are expressed as a dose rate therefore a composition of Radionuclides must be used to correlate the dose rate limits to a gaseous release rate for setpoint determination. The composition of Radionuclides that are normally present in an effluent stream may not be representative of that which will be present when gaseous activity is actually approaching the instantaneous release limits. As such, the Alarm/Trip setpoints should be based on a composition of Radionuclides that could be expected to be present when gaseous activity is approaching the Alarm/Trip setpoint level.
